Alit Boazu is a band from the northern parts of Troms, Norway, and have played together for five years. They combine traditional Sapmi tones with rock, pop and progressive rhythms to make an exciting fusion of the old and new.
It can be hard to draw direct comparisons to other bands, but influences from bands like Mew, Sigur Rós and of course Mari Boine can be heard. Alit Boazu consists of a traditional rock line-up with vocals, guitars, bass, synth and drums, but they often use more unusual instruments like mandolin and djembe to create a more ethnic and exciting soundscape.
Over the five years the band has existed they have garnered a solid reputation for their live shows and have played on several big festivals in Norway. The most importand being Riddu Riđđu Festival ('05, '06, '07 and '08), Døgnvill ('07) and the Sami Easter Festival in Kautokeino ('06, '07 and '08).
2009 looks to be an exciting year for Alit Boazu, as their debut record is set to be released. Recordings for the album first started three years ago, and with the skilled hands of Svein Schultz at the mixing desk, it's going to be an ethnic rock explosion!
